‘No Other Gods’

October 9th, 2009 · No Comments

“I Am the Lord your God….you shall have no other gods before me. You shall make no graven image or any likeness of anything in heaven or earth, nor bow down to any such thing.” (The First and Second Commandments)

This just in …

Apparently, they’re sloshed on ‘The’ Kool-Aid in Oslo today. Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm, Barack Hussein Obama … Looks as if the “Skip” Gates beer summit paid off.

NEWS ITEM 1: OSLO (Reuters) - President … Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for giving the world “hope for a better future” and striving for nuclear disarmament, in a surprise award that drew both warm praise and sharp criticism.

Soldier: Obama could not even achieve “peace” between the U.S. and International Olympic committees and, thus, golf will make its Olympic Games debut in 2016 in Rio. The Caddy from Ipanema?

NEWS ITEM 2: LOS ANGELES (Wall Street Journal) - Obama spent two years at Occidental, a small liberal-arts college … before leaving to complete his undergraduate studies at Columbia. … (Occidental) is considering a statue (of Obama), an Obama-inspired reading room and lecture series, among other things.

Soldier: The guy shunned your school to find a campus populated by more non-white radicals, and you want to erect a statue?

NEWS ITEM 3: CHICAGO (Bloomberg) - At least 47 school-age children in Chicago have been killed in homicides, mostly by guns, since the month President Barack Obama took office. The latest youth homicide in his adopted hometown was different only in that the attackers used splintered railroad ties and were captured on video broadcast globally.

Soldier: Plenty of splintered railroad ties in those violent streets, but where was the hope and the change?

NEWS ITEM 4: TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - A top official with Iran’s most powerful military force—the Revolutionary Guard—says Tehran will “blow up the heart of Israel” if the Jewish state or the United States attacked Iran.

Soldier: Is this a scenario to which the Nobel committee referred when it cited Obama’s extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”?

In a search for consolation in these dangerous times, perhaps the best that can be said is that there are really, really stupid people in any number of population centers, in Oslo, in Los Angeles, in Tehran, and in Chicago. Knowing this can only embolden those of us blessed with fully developed intellects, common sense and sincere hearts to soldier on. We have no choice.

Trust us, we’re … Senators!

October 7th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Excerpts of actual responses from the offices of IL Senators Burris and Durbin to my instructions to them on rejecting Obamacare. My letters were faxed on Oct. 6. Their replies were sent by email (by eager young Kool-Aid guzzling interns) Oct. 7.

You can’t make this stuff up.

From Sen. Dick Durbin, who holds the dubious distinction of being rated the most liberal U.S. Senator.

Dear Mr. Woodward:

Thank you for writing to express your concerns about health care reform. I appreciate hearing from you. More than 46 million Americans are without health insurance today, including 8.5 million children.

Including about 10 million undocumented immigrants, 17 million who earn more than $50,000/year and can buy their own coverage but refuse to, and 14 million who qualify for Medicaid or other federal subsidies. But who’s counting?

We will put an end to discrimination based on pre-existing conditions. Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage, or dropping you, because of your medical history or because you get sick.

But we will not address the crippling lawsuits physicians face daily that are the No. 1 cause of escalating health care costs and declining health care practices. And how will we pay for patients who lie about their health/weight/family history in order to secure maximum coverage?

If you like what you have today, you can keep it.

A complete falsehood. Once Obamacare is in place, the health insurance sector will be allowed to wither and die, leaving only government-run health “care” intact. Nice try, Durbin. You lying dog.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Durbin
United States Senator

From Sen. Roland Burris, who holds the dubious distinction of being appointed by influence peddling ex-IL Governor Rod Blagojevich.

Dear Stephen:

I appreciate hearing from you.

About as much as you appreciate a call from a Chicago alderman to whom you owe favors.

As your United States Senator …

I believe you are actually Rod Blagojevich’s Senator, as I recall.

A Kaiser Family Foundation report found that average insurance premiums have more than doubled in the past nine years.

And why is that? Because there are no safeguards to protect doctors from frivolous and/or predatory law suits, forcing them to administer additional tests and recommend unnecessary treatments.

A focus on prevention and primary care will help Americans avoid getting sick, saving billions on costly specialist and emergency treatments.

So you will tax soft drinks, adding to the financial burdens of the middle class and below. Brilliant!

Increasing competition in the insurance market through a public option will put pressure on insurers to reduce administrative costs, marketing, and high profit margins.

The best way to increase competition is not to let federal bureaucrats meddle in our health care decisions. The solution is to allow individuals to shop for the best coverage beyond the borders of their state.

Assuring affordable access to health insurance for all will eliminate the $1,200 “hidden tax” that the average insured Illinois resident pays in additional premiums to subsidize expensive emergency care for those who cannot afford premiums.

Here’s an idea. Round up undocumented immigrants and send them home. This will keep them from populating our emergency rooms for treatment for head colds and ankle sprains.

“Government Takeover”: Some believe that a public insurance option will mean the end of private health insurance. On the contrary, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reports that if insurance reform passes with a public plan option, the number of people covered by private, employer-sponsored coverage will actually increase.

Even if this were to occur by some miracle, the medical profession will not be able to keep up with demand as its established professionals seek early retirement and potential newcomers to the profession seek other careers.

None of the reform proposals being considered would mandate coverage of abortions.

Wow, how stupid do you think we are?

I share the President’s commitment to a bill that does not increase the federal budget deficit.

Wow, how stupid are you?

I will continue to listen closely to what you and other Illinoisans have to say about matters before Congress.

Until you are voted out of office and back to the Chicago cesspool in 2010.

Sincerely,

Roland W. Burris
United States Senator

Hope and Change? Or Despair and Rage?

October 2nd, 2009 · No Comments

Let us not rush to cast aside those enormous CHICAGO 2016 banners urging the masses to IMAGINE. After Friday’s rebuff of Chicago and its former street organizer Barack Hussein Obama by the International Olympic Committee, we can readily IMAGINE a day when Richard Daley is no longer Chicago’s Mayor/Benevolent Dictator, and a glorious hour when Obama is no longer President of the United States.

Daley went “all in” on Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games. Obama is fully invested in his ability to impose transformational change on everything he surveys. Ever delusional, Obama seems to believe that he will orchestrate the course of human history by merely speaking dramatic and emotional words.

He believes Iran will put aside its nuclear ambitions, that the U.S. economy will spring back to life, that terrorist cells will disband and become members of the Peace Corps, that tsunamis will turn into mere ripples, and that the International Olympic Committee will gasp upon hearing his visionary intonations. Obama even believes that Americans will yield their independence in order to empower the federal government to control critical health care decisions.

We know little about Obama’s soul, and even less about the men and women who voted Friday to award the 2016 Games to Rio de Janeiro.

The mainstream U.S. and Chicago media made no effort to understand and report on the true nature of the IOC members, who they really are, how they think, and how they view the world over which they reign. This same media irresponsibly failed to explore the influences and forces that shaped the new American president.

And so we are left with an overwhelming emptiness nine months in.

Chicago’s promises to the IOC, presented in part by Obama and the First Leftist of the U.S. Michelle Robinson Obama, were greeted with indifference, you might even say contempt. How else to explain the city’s elimination from the race in the first round of voting?

On a larger scale, and in the real world where jobs losses mount and terror threats build, only a fertile imagination can possibly glimpse a future where Hope and Change are the underpinnings of a thriving America. The post-racial Obama World still finds a Chicago teen being beaten to death in broad daylight by fellow teens near a school.

The unemployment rate is flirting with and will surely exceed 10 percent. Economic stimulus ploys are failing. Cash-for-Clunkers provided only one month of rebound for auto sales. September was another nightmare for auto dealers. Iran is thumbing its nose at America’s threats by staging a cheap publicity trick with Russia. And the frantic radical left in Congress is faced with such crippling backlash against its plan to nationalize and hijack health care that our so called leaders are scheming to pass a sweeping bill under cover of darkness.

By contrast, no effort to IMAGINE is required to realize that the United States is abandoning the flimsy promise of Hope and Change because it can not ignore the tangibility of Despair and Rage.
